This small yard shows how fire and water features with crisp geometry and rich natural materials can make an unforgettably grand statement. Curvy lines often communicate a casual atmosphere however this rectangular pool and grand spa reflect the slightly more formal style of the home.

A year round space was created with a large pavilion adjacent to the pool and spa. Separate zones for swimming, sun bathing, outdoor cooking & dining, and a selection of materials that require minimal upkeep were key to this project. The large pavilion features a fireplace, pizza oven, bar, sink, along with top-of-the-line cooking appliances.

Protected by a privacy berm of burford hollies, this house forms a "U" shape that is lined with walls of glass overlooking a rear courtyard. Here, a sleek water feature combines a minimalist floor of white concrete rectangles rimmed by blue Mexican beach pebbles. Beyond, a pristine, negative edge swimming pool is resort worthy, with a tanning ledge and gracious spa.

Detailed privacy walls and gates were designed among the parterre gardens in front of this large estate. The driveway and motor court were reconfigured with a circular tiered water feature and softened with turf grass between joints. Formal hedges of boxwood, ligustrum, and potted topiary plants help complement the formal architecture.

This sleek pool includes a perimeter slot overflow system giving the illusion that the pool's water is floating above the deck. From the sunken fire pit guests can enjoy cool winter evenings with unobstructed views of the fabulous Las Vegas Strip. A modern interpretation of an outdoor kitchen complements the home's architecture.

The homeowner's wish list included an outdoor cook center and bar that would be accessible to the pool. A sunken grill with wet bar stools were incorporated into the pool's design to make eating and sipping margaritas much more enjoyable. This luxurious retreat shows how even a small yard can include a pool, spa, and covered outdoor living space fit for a king.

With soothing sounds, a beautiful Spanish-Mediterranean fountain greets guests as they enter the home's entry courtyard. In the rear yard, the vanishing-edge pool design directs one's attention toward the arid desert landscape and allows the pool water to visually blend into the background's seemingly infinite view of the desert. If the sun is too much to tolerate, one can simply retreat to the home's sunken covered patio and still feel connected to the pool.

Set high atop the Sonoran Desert this modern prairie home boasts views to die for. The pool's four-sided vanishing-edge design makes it look like a black cube of water rising from the desert sands. The modern architecture of the home blends well with the desert setting by using natural stone vertical and horizontal surfaces as well as colorful drought tolerant plant materials.
